Binding Site constantly strives to improve the tools available to laboratory professionals around the world for diagnosing and monitoring disease. Binding Site’s origins date back to a group of researchers within the Medical School of Birmingham University who first started looking at innovative ways of producing antibodies in the early 1970's. That company has evolved into The Binding Site and for over 25 years they have specialised in producing highly sensitive and highly specific antibodies used for the detection of certain cancers and other serious disorders.

Binding Site believe in the firm foundations of scientific evidence and the willingness and ability to respond to the requirements of researchers and clinicians alike. With their roots firmly planted in the clinical application of laboratory diagnostics they have never lost sight of the ultimate beneficiary of their products - the patient.

Since their humble beginning Binding Site has forged its reputation as “The Specialist Protein Company” leading the market with their patented Freelite™ and Hevylite™ assays.

FREELITE Serum Free Light Chain (FLC) Assays from Provides rapid, quantifiable measure of serum free light chains to aid laboratory diagnosis and monitoring of monoclonal disease states.  Utilising individual immunodiagnostic assay kits for kappa and lambda free light chain SFLC is recommend by international guidelines to be used along side SEPG and IFE for use in screening, diagnosis, prognosis and monitoring in patients with MGUS, SMM, Solitary Plasmacytoma, IIMM, LCMM, NSMM and AL.

HEVYLITE , incorporates polyclonal antibodies  for analysis of immunoglobin heavy chain/light chain pairs to provide a higher sensitivity test than SEPG for quantifying monoclonal immunoglobins.  Hevylite is useful as it provides a numerical result for patients who are traditionally IFE positive , clinical values when monitoring to reflect greater rates of change which are  not affected by changes in blood volume, anaemia and metabolism and can offer information regarding tumour selective kill rate versus non-tumour plasma cell kill rates to assist in decision making regarding effective chemotherapy treatment.
